The Cherry Tree
Welcome to our charming and historic pub and restaurant, located on the outskirts of Copthorne village, just a short distance from the bustling M23 and conveniently accessible from the nearby towns of East Grinstead and Crawley.
With its rustic and quirky charm, our pub boasts stone floors, wooden beams, log fires, captivating artwork, and unique artefacts that showcase the rich history of this 400-year-old inn, which once included a small book library for patrons.
Our owners, Sherif Gewily and Umut Sakalli, are both highly skilled chefs who worked for eight years as head chefs at the Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group before branching out on their own, bringing with them a wealth of experience and expertise.
We take pride in offering a dynamic, fresh, and seasonal food menu while still retaining the cosy, comfortable atmosphere of a traditional pub. All of our dishes are cooked to order and made with locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Our menu changes frequently, and we feature a daily specials board, with the exception of Sunday when a more traditional, larger menu is available.
Our drinks list features a selection of delightful Dorset ales, national lagers and ciders, a diverse gin collection, and a carefully curated wine list. You can dine and relax in one of our cosy dining areas or enjoy a drink in our comfortable seating area. On warmer days, we have a secluded garden at the back of the pub.
We are proudly part of the Hall & Woodhouse family, a British regional brewery founded in 1777.

From our experienced team of talented chefs and assistants in the kitchen, to the friendly front of house crew whose faces you will recognise from your visits. Keeping the well-oiled engine going is the management team who do a bit of everything!

We can create a bespoke menu for your wedding, or you can build your summer party around one of our barbecue packages. We have different options for smaller events like christenings, wakes and kids' parties.
